The upper part of the shoe is comprised of a combination of synthetic leather and sandwich mesh that is lightweight and gives you the comfort and support needed for a long workout. Velcro straps provide a secure and customizable fit. Two single straps merging into a wider one for better foot support. The semi-rigid rubber Ergo Grip outsole provides good grip, flexibility, and is specifically designed for walking. The HRS-80 system maintains heel positioning and reduces loss of power ensuring a comfortable ride. The shoes are equipped with a scale on the outsoles allowing for accurate cleat positioning and ensuring a consistent cleat alignment on both shoes. Cleat drill pattern are recessed and compatible with SPD cleats. Cleats not included.

After trying several different brands, these bike shoes are the best for those of us who aren't yet at the point of using clipless pedals. The sole of the shoe grips the pedal without slipping, even when you are out of the saddle, which seems to be the problem with most other bike shoes; the bottoms are too slippery for that. They still have the hardwear to clip in if, eventually, you decide that's what you want. I love the velcro, as I have found that it gives me the best fit. I was worried about the sizing since it is hard to find what size you are when converting to European men's sizes, but they fit perfectly. I am an 8 1/2-9 and I bought the size 40, and they are perfect.
