Let me start off by saying that these are exceptionally well made shoes. I love FRYE and will continue to buy their shoes. However, I did return this particular pair. The shoe was a really odd triangular shape that ended up looking really masculine. Which was too bad too, as these shoes were really comfortable. The leather was super soft, and the excellent workmanship was clearly evident.

I wore these shoes today for the first time, and I was positive I would love them as much as my other Mountain Masochists. However, this "mid" fit has rubbed the back of my ankle bones raw during the day. Instead of laying flat - they fit in such a way that they rub and wear against my skin --even with the protection of a sock. I wish I had worn these earlier since I have now missed the return window and am stuck with a pair of shoes I won't be wearing again.

I did not like the shoe initially because it was a bit tight - I couldn't wear for over 1 hour. But after breaking in, it has become very comfortable and I can were it through out the day. I know it is a basketball shoe but I use it to play tennis. It feels light and strong at the same time. I did not think it was a beautiful shoe but I receive a lot of compliments wherever I go so I guess it is a nice looking shoe. It's a bit expensive, IMO.

Montrail Women's Badrock Mid Outdry Light Stable Trail Running Shoe,Deep Turquoise/ Voltage,9 M US Review

As other reviews I read (on various sites) these provide ample toe room while maintaining a snug heel for good support. I have not actually hiked in them yet. They are a little stiff out of the box. I have worn them 3 times on 5 mile walks and have worn them to work 2 times standing/walking in them for 8-9 hour shifts. I have had no discomfort, blisters, etc. They are very comfy and I can tell they will offer good support on my future hiking ventures. I've walked through multiple deep puddles with no repercussions. I would recommend these boots to others. I normally wear a size 9 (daily "normal" shoes) and i bought a 9 1/2 in these. They are large enough I can wear my winter thick wool socks with and not feel cramped yet still fit good with my summer thinner socks.
