I've had this problem with wide calf boots before. For some reason the people who make them can't wrap their heads around the idea that wide calf doesn't mean I also have wide feet or ankles. My ankles are normal sized but I'm overweight and workout semi-regularly and walk an average of 2 miles daily for my commute, resulting in 19 inch calves.

I'm a 10.5, I bought 10.5 WW.

The calves are tight but fit, I have to work to zip them up. Even after messing with the lacing a lot to tighten it around the feet and ankles, it's like I'm wearing marshmallows... there's some bagging around my ankles and the shoes fit more like an 11 than a 10.5... I was hoping to wear these boots with tights for winter. If I wore thick socks I might like the fit better. I will definately be buying some nice gel insoles.

I considered returning these, but I've been waiting for some cute knee high boots like this since I was a 14 year old goth. I'm going to see if the material, which looks to me like a nice quality faux leather but smells real, will shape itself to my feet a bit better over time.

Wide calf boot makers are my friends because in the past it was hard to get attractive wide calf boots, but... you guys need to realize that wide calves don't mean wide feet! I've had this problem with other retailers as well.

UPDATE- These boots still looked cute after breaking them in a bit and relacing them VERY tightly, but they didn't last long- I wore them for about a week of walking a few miles a day (public transport ftw!) and had to use gorilla glue to reattatch one of the heels where it started to pull away, and they lasted about 3 months after that before the heels completely disintegrated. Sad thing is, I'm sort of considering buying a new pair just because it's incredibly hard to find wide calf boots that go with my style- there are an abundance of riding boots, but I don't do jodhpurs and I've never ridden a horse in my life. A few brands are starting to make scrunchy boots which are fashionable with some people, but I have wide calves, so those will totally look AWESOME, right? And if you don't want to look like you're getting ready to poledance or foxhunt there aren't many options... It's just that for the $75 I paid for them it's too much.
