I bought these shoes for a trip to Utah's parks, where we would do lots of hiking. I was looking for a shoe that had grippy soles for slick rock and were cushioned enough to avoid bruising on rough ground. These shoes did that and more. I love the quick tightening laces. The shoes are almost like walking on a cloud. My only complaint is that in sand, they pick up enormous amounts and the sand is very hard to shake out of the mesh. I am buying another pair, although they appear to wear very well. (I've had them for 9 months and wear them a lot.)
